Tank System Inspector Credential
In order to inspect a tank system that is regulated under Wisconsin Administrative Code
ATCP 93 for the purpose of administering and enforcing ATCP 93, you must hold a tank system inspector certification issued by DATCP
and be an authorized agent of the department.
To initially obtain Tank System Inspector certification, you must take the DATCP tank system inspector training class and pass the required exam. There are no fees to apply for or renew a Tank System Inspector credential. See the fact sheet below for additional information:
If you are an inspector working for a local program operator who has dropped out of our program, but you would like to maintain your credential, please contact us via phone at (608) 224-4942, option 4 or via email at DATCPWMCompliance@wi.gov.
Continuing Education Credits
Wisconsin Administrative Code ATCP 93 requires Tank System Inspectors to obtain 12 Continuing Education Credits (CEC) within the 2 year certification period in order to renew their credential. Individuals that do not obtain the required CECs must retake the exam.
DATCP conducts 12 CECs of training each year at no cost to inspectors. Please see our training calendar for the full list of training opportunities:
Bureau of Weights and Measures Trainings and Events Calendar
In addition to the available DATCP CEC opportunities, DATCP has approved training programs that offer CECs. A list of approved training programs can be found on our continuing education providers listing. Please contact the continuing educators directly regarding scheduling and availability of courses. DATCP does not accept CECs from any provider that does not have course approval.
