Taylor Schaefer is serving as the 75th Alice i​n Dairyland. As Wisconsin's agriculture ambassador, her goal is to educate audiences across Wisconsin about the $104.8 billion economic impact and importance of our state's diverse agriculture industry in our daily lives.

Schaefer, of Franksville, grew up on her family's beef and crop farm, where raising livestock and serving as a youth leader for ​Racine County 4-H were just a few activities that helped shape her childhood. During her teen years, she was heavily involved in her local 4-H program and other area volunteer groups. Schaefer went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, whe​re she was involved in the Association of Women in Agriculture, Badger Dairy Club, and the University of Wisconsin Marching Band.

In 2021, she interned with Mayer Farms Beef and Folk Song Farm, where she connected with consumers and broadened her knowledge of the Something Special from Wisconsin program. She also went on to serve the Animal and Dairy Sciences Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison as a digital media intern and the Mid-West Farm Report as a farm assistant. In 2022, she graduated with degrees in Animal Sciences and Life Sciences Communication with a certificate in Digital Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

“As a young exhibitor, I looked up to Alice for her contributions towards reconnecting consumers to producers and her ability to foster positive relationships between urban and rural community members," said Schaefer. “As Alice, I will explore Wisconsin's diverse agriculture industry and share my knowledge with audiences of all demographics across the state."

Alice in Dairyland is a one-year, full-time public relations professional employed by the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection (WI DATCP). Each year, Alice in Dairyland travels more than 30,000 miles throughout the state, promoting Wisconsin agriculture to various audiences. Additionally, she conducts hundreds of media interviews, speeches and school presentations.

During a single year, Alice develops and delivers at least:

  • 80 TV Interviews
  • 300 Radio Interviews
  • 1,000 social media posts
  • 60 print articles
  • 200 tailored speeches

During her year of service, Alice also provides educational programming, in conjunction with the Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, to thousands of Wisconsin grade-school children.
