The Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Unit of The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection conducts inspection, grading and related services. The unit is based in Stevens Point. It conducts inspection, weighing, and grading services in accordance with guidelines established by and under the delegated authority of the Fruit and Vegetable Grading Program. This program is a unit of the
Agricultural Marketing Service, which is an agency housed within the United States Department of Agriculture.
The Fruit and Vegetable Inspection Office is equipped to inspect and grade a wide variety of products. We are also authorized to conduct audits for USDA’s Good Handling Practices and Good Agricultural Practices (GHP/GAP) certification programs. Beginning in the fall of 2009, there is a USDA Specialty Crop Block Grant available to help defray the cost of this audit.
