The Food and Recreational Safety Division regulates the entire food chain, from the agricultural producer to
the consumer. This permits a comprehensive approach to food safety issues affecting producers, processors,
distributors, retailers, and consumers.
DATCP's Food and Recreational Safety Division enforces food, lodging, and recreation laws by working to ensure:

A safe, wholesome and secure food supply

Lodging establishments

Pools and water attractions

Campgrounds

Recreational and educational camps
The Division:

Licenses and inspects nearly 24,000 food, lodging, and recreation establishments; and over 3,000 food processing and storage facilities

Issues and oversees more than 6,000 personal licenses (for example, bulk milk weigher and sampler, lab analysts)

55 city, county, or multi-unit jurisdictions local health department inspection of:

Retail food establishments, including restaurants
