Applications for the Wisconsin Crop Insurance Premium Rebate for Planting Cover Crops Program were made available December 2, 2024 per emergency rule 2416. Under the program, interested participants may enroll acres planted in cover
crops for the fall of 2024, which will be planted to an insurable crop the following growing season. The program has $800,000, or 160,000 acres, of coverage to award on a first-come, first-served basis during the 2024-2025 application period. Eligible applicants will receive a $5 per acre rebate on their summer 2025 crop insurance premium for every acre enrolled and verified in the program. - Producers or landowners that received federal or state cost-share or incentives for planting cover crops in 2024 are
not eligible for the program.
- Applicants will need their FSA-578 and FSA maps to complete the application.
- The FSA-578 will need to be submitted with your 2024 application.
- Contact your local FSA office to obtain these forms if needed.
- There is no limit on the number of acres an applicant can apply for.
