The Bureau of Land and Water Resource Management invites you to join our open office hours where we will be discussing the new and updated ATCP 50 conservation practices. Join program staff every other week for an open office hour where staff will be discussing important information regarding implantation and administration an updated and/or new practice. Recordings will be uploaded below to review at your convenience if you are unable to attend during the scheduled times.

New Practice Standard - Cover CropsFormerly referred to as cropland cover, ATCP 50.68 was updated to provide options consistent with the USDA cover crop practice standard. Updates offer more flexibility to counties providing cost sharing for producers to implement nutrient management and conservation plan goals. Discuss considerations for implementation, monitoring, maintenance, required documentation, and eligibility for reimbursement.

New Practice Standard - Habitat Diversification and Conservation Cover
Explore new practice opportunities for establishing native vegetative cover in an agricultural setting and the potential benefits to water quality and soil health. Providing habitat diversification as a primary resource concern will increase pollinator activity and both practices provide additional options to those with an active nutrient management plan.

New Practice Standard – Crop RotationExplore a new practice option available for producers with nutrient management plans struggling to reach their targets. Planning a sequence of different crops in the same field to reduce erosion, improve soil health, protect water quality, manage pests, and increase crop yield will assist these producers in reaching and maintaining compliance with their nutrient management or conservation plans.
