MADISON – Members of the public may comment until Friday, May 31, on a proposal to replace five culverts crossing County Highway F in the Town of Grant, Portage County.

The culverts are located where the county highway crosses Tenmile Creek at three different points, and where the road crosses the north and south branches of the creek. The county plans to replace the culverts as part of a road resurfacing project.

The creek and culverts are part of the Portage County Drainage District. Replacing culverts in a drainage district requires approval from the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection, which oversees drainage districts in Wisconsin. The department has prepared an environmental assessment of the project, finding that the project will not affect the environment significantly.

The environmental assessment is available online. Paper copies are available by mail by contacting Chris Clayton, 608-224-4630, christopher.clayton@wi.gov.  It can also be viewed at the department's Madison office, 2811 Agriculture Drive, 7:45 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Comments may be emailed to christopher.clayton@wi.gov or mailed to DATCP-ARM, ATTN Chris Clayton, P.O. Box 8911, Madison, 53708-88911. They must be received by 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 31.
