Bea’s Ho-Made Products Contain Undeclared Allergens, DATCP Cautions

MADISON – The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has issued a consumer advisory for Bea’s Ho-Made products. 

Products subject to this advisory include all jam and jelly, fudge topping, and cherry topping produced by the firm. The food products contain major food allergens that are not declared on their label. The jams and jellies contain the major food allergens milk and soy, while the fudge and cherry toppings contain milk and wheat.

No illnesses have been reported from consuming these products. The Ellison Bay company is working cooperatively to remove the products from stores, but consumers may have the products in their homes. The products are safe to consume by those who do not have an allergy or sensitivity to milk, soy, and/or wheat. Consumers may return the products to the retailer where they bought them, or discard them. For information, they can call (920) 854-2268 or email beashomade@gmail.com​.

The products were sold in 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-ounce jars to grocery stores and specialty shops in Wisconsin and Illinois, and online. 

Milk, soy, and wheat may cause serious reactions in people who are allergic or sensitive to them. Symptoms of food allergy or sensitivity may include swelling, itching or irritation of the mouth, nose, throat, eyes and skin; breathing difficulty; cramps, nausea, or vomiting; diarrhea; or anaphylaxis.
