In October, 2016, DATCP’s International Agribusiness
Center hosted a Global Dairy Symposium at which leading international experts shared
insights on the global dairy industry. Held during World
Dairy Expo, the symposium addressed many of the complex issues that have been brought
to the forefront by rapid growth, rise in population, food security, and other
issues. The invited speakers shared trends in dairy production, global impact
of economic fluctuations, and offered predictions for the world’s developed and
developing dairy industries. Presenters
included: Sharon Sydow, Senior Economist, Office of the Chief Economist, United
States Department of Agriculture, Washington, D.C.; Tom Bailey, Food &
Agribusiness Research and Advisory Group, Rabobank, New York, N.Y.; and, Robert
Erhard, Agricultural Material Specialist (Dairy) for Nestlé, Geneva,
Switzerland. Power Point presentations by Bailey and Sydow are included here.
