From November 3-6, 2025, staff from DATCP's International Agribusiness Center (IABC) joined the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Trade Mission to Mexico City, Mexico. This mission was led by U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins and Undersecretary of Agriculture for Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Luke Lindberg.
Mexico is the largest agricultural trading partner with the U.S., valued at $30.2 billion in 2024, and second largest for Wisconsin at $459 million in 2024. This was the largest agricultural trade mission the USDA has conducted consisting of 41 U.S. businesses, 33 cooperators and agriculture advocacy groups, six state departments of agriculture, and 150 participants.
While there, IABC staff met with Mexican importers looking to source new product, USDA staff to explore collaboration, and different cooperators to determine where strategic plans can align for exporting more products from Wisconsin. In addition, IABC staff also met with officials from the USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and SENASICA (National Service for Health, Safety, and Agri-Food Quality), where the status of eradicating New World Screwworm was discussed.
We look forward to building upon our visit and fostering relations for future export growth.
