Tanzania Dairy Training

Following up on an outcome from the 2024 DATCP-led trade mission to Kenya and Tanzania, DATCP in collaboration with in-country stakeholders, experts from Wisconsin Veterinary Diagnostic Lab, American Embryo Transfer Association, and National ​ Association for Animal Breeders developed a training program focused on training-the-trainers for the Northern Tanzania dairy industry. We d​eveloped programs for small-stakeholder farmers and for veterinarians, Para veterinarians, and AI technicians. The skills taught included sanitary semen and embryo handling, breeding, whole-blood pregnancy diagnosis, milking sanitation, preparing California mastitis test (CMT) solution,​ and performing a CMT test. Close to 260 attendees were trained over the course of the week.
