The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service Dubai coordinated a two-day add-on event that took place immediately following Gulfood, featuring a U.S. Product Showcase in Oman. The event was in collaboration with the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry to explore market opportunities. During the two-day market immersion in Oman market, participants had a market briefing at the Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry with a total of 53 attendees, excellent round table discussions with industry leaders, a half day of one-on-one meetings, retail tour, visit to Khazaen Economic City, tour of the Oman Food and Safety and Quality Center, and a USDA reception with well over 160 attendees.
Oman presents a promising and underexplored opportunity for U.S. agricultural and food exports, with strong consumer demand, rising disposable income, and a market that relies heavily on imports across nearly all product categories. Oman is one of only two countries in the Gulf region with a Free Trade Agreement with the United States, which provides American exporters a unique competitive edge.
