Their agenda spanned presentations from DATCP Divisions of Animal Health, Food and Recreational Safety, Agricultural Resource Management, and Agricultural Development, as well as USDA Food and Nutrition Services and Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction staff. The group also toured Festival Foods, Hinchley’s Dairy farm, Milk Specialties Global, Klondike Cheese Company, Emmi Roth, Wisconsin Cranberry Research Station, and Grass Ridge Farm.
At World Dairy Expo, the delegation attended the DATCP-sponsored International Exporters Workshop, the International Producers Symposium on Milk Quality and Dairy Reproduction/Genetics, and the Global Dairy Summit, along with other Expo events. Central Asia Delegation
During the first week of October, DATCP hosted a delegation from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan as part of a collaboration with U.S. Department of Agriculture Foreign Agriculture Service (USDA FAS) Central Asia. The delegation attended World Dairy Expo in Madison, visited Wisconsin dairy businesses, and participated in seminars and workshops. Visit DATCP's Trade Mission Recaps page to learn more.
Central Asia offers a promising opportunity for dairy development due to its growing demand for high-quality dairy products, driven by rising incomes and urbanization. With developing dairy sectors in need of modern technology and strategic government support, this region presents an ideal market for Wisconsin agricultural product export, from dairy genetics, feed, and machinery to dairy ingredients.
The inbound mission helped foster important connections between Wisconsin exporters and new markets in Central Asia, opening doors for export opportunities and collaborative growth.
