Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative

H1 (1).jpegThe Wisconsin Food Hub Cooperative expanded farm to school and early childhood programming across 47 schools and ECE sites in 27 counties, impacting an estimated 1,410 students. The project supported local procurement by developing meal box kits, creating promotional resources, and providing minimally processed local produce that met school nutrition requirements. Technical assistance included Harvest of the Month activities, school-based presentations, and recipe development to align with institutional food service needs. Collaborations with food directors, Extension, and local growers strengthened procurement systems and educational programming. The project laid groundwork for broader distribution initiatives, including applications for VAPG and LFPP funding and efforts to join USDA's DoD Fresh program for Milwaukee Public Schools.
