Pesticide Certification & Licensing

Notes for those taking pesticide applicator exams:

Commercial pesticide applicators can now schedule their certification exams online. Go to pestexam.datcp.wi.gov
 
You can get your pesticide applicator results online at a new address: pesticidecertifications.wi.gov. 
 
Wisconsin requires certain licenses or certification to be held by commercial or private pesticide applicators, pesticide application businesses or pesticide dealers that sell restricted-use pesticides. All pesticides sold and used in Wisconsin must be licensed.
 

Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification
There are two types of commercial applicators Commercial For-hire Pesticide Applicators and Commercial Not For-hire Pesticide Applicators.

Commercial Pesticide Applicator License
Required for anyone who must be certified as a commercial pesticide applicator.

Commercial Pesticide Application Business
Required for a business that applies pesticides for payment.

Pesticides Exempted Under FIFRA Section (25)b
Required for businesses that produce pesticide products not registered with the EPA.

Pesticide Manufacturing and Labeler License
Pesticide products distributed in Wisconsin must be registered for use in the State.

Private Applicator Certification
A private applicator is a person applying pesticides to produce an agricultural product on land owned or rented by the person or the person's employer.

Reciprocal Pesticide Applicator Certification and License
Required to apply pesticides in Wisconsin as a commercial pesticide applicator or to operate as a private pesticide applicator.

Restricted Use Pesticide Dealer
Required for retail dealers or distributors of restricted-use pesticides. Each location that sells restricted-use pesticides must be licensed separately.
