License Information

Pesticide Manufacturer and Labelers

The Wisconsin Pesticide Law (s. 94.68, Wis. Stats.), requires pesticide products distributed in Wisconsin to be registered with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency [http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/regulating/index.htm] and be licensed for sale or use in the state. It is the responsibility of the person or firm whose name and address is shown on the pesticide product label (i.e. Pesticide Manufacturer or Labeler) to obtain this license.

At least 15 days prior to distributing pesticide products in Wisconsin you must submit a completed Wisconsin Pesticide Manufacturer and Labeler application, a Pesticide Product Listing form and other requested information.

Pesticide product registration and pesticide manufacturer labeler licenses are effective from January 1 through December 31.
Cost: New pesticide product registration fees are based on product type.

• Household pesticides - $265 per product
• Industrial pesticides - $315 per product
• Wood Preservative - $320 per product (pentachlorophenol or coal tar creosote only)
• Non household pesticides - $323.50 per product

Fees for previously registered pesticide products are based on product type and the product's preceding year's gross sales in Wisconsin. Once a product is registered, the Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection will mail product registration renewals in mid-September each year.

Exempt Pesticides

Some pesticide products do not require EPA registration still require Wisconsin registration. Firms producing these products must still obtain a Pesticide Manufacturer and Labeler license. There are no registration fees for Section 25(b) products.
