Wisconsin Cheese Companies Exhibit at SIAL Paris
Funded by the Wisconsin Initiative for Agricultural Exports

Two Wisconsin cheese companies, BelGioioso and Sartori, exhibited with the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) at SIAL Paris from October 15-18, 2022.

The USA Cheese Pavilion offered by show management also included the State of Vermont and US Dairy Export Council. This was the first time in the history of the trade show that US companies were offered exhibit space in the Dairy Hall. SIAL Paris is held in even years and ANUGA (Cologne) is held the odd years. Both SIAL and ANUGA trade shows attract buyers from all over the world and are seen as the meeting place for doing business.

At large shows like SIAL Paris, buyers tend to gravitate to the specific product halls – meat, dairy, fine food, etc.  The European Union is a challenging market for US food processors. Labeling and packaging requirements will get stricter as the EU pushes for reusable packaging. Tariffs also pose a challenge to US food manufacturers.  Geographic indicators are a huge impediment for US cheese companies. DATCP anticipates exhibiting again at SIAL Paris in 2024.
