The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection (DATCP) licenses nursery growers and dealers and Christmas tree growers, primarily to manage and monitor pests and diseases, and to ensure that consumers receive healthy nursery stock. Nursery inspectors also serve as a resource for any pest or disease issues that licensees encounter. DATCP's Bureau of Plant Industry also issues certificates for in-state, interstate and international shipments of plants and plant products.
