Schools, day care centers, nursing homes, hospitals and prisons are sites that are difficult to evacuate in case of potential exposure to soil fumigants. Therefore, if they are near application sites and will be occupied during the application or within 36 hours afterward, soil fumigant applications may be prohibited.
There are label requirements addressing this situation. In addition to label requirements, Wisconsin law specifically addresses chloropicrin and metam sodium applications. The chart listed below shows when such applications are allowed.
