LAKE GENEVA – When heading to Farm Tech Days, don’t forget to bring your questions for staff at the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection and University of Wisconsin-Extension with you. DATCP staff will be available in three different areas in Tent City to connect with visitors.
“Farm Technology Days is a great opportunity for DATCP staff to talk one-on-one with farmers, consumers and businesses,” said DATCP Secretary Ben Brancel. “Each year I look forward to attending the event to hear from the agricultural community, see the latest technology the industry has to offer and learn about advances in research and production. I hope Wisconsinites, as well as our neighbors in other states, make the trip to join me.”
Farm Technology Days is being hosted this year by Walworth County at Snudden Farms in Lake Geneva on July 19-21. The show runs from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day.
New this year, DATCP will have a booth on the Producer-Led Watershed Protection grants in the Education Station. The grants are intended to help farmers find solutions best suited for their particular watersheds and work to increase farmer participation in these voluntary efforts. The application period is open through September 1. Also in the Education Station will be information on nutrient management.
Representatives from the Division of Animal Health, Wisconsin Farm Center, Pollinator Protection and the Wisconsin Agricultural Statistics Service will be available in the Progress Pavilion to answer questions. All booths will feature an interactive activity for visitors of all ages and resources to take home.
In the Family Living Tent, Bureau of Consumer Protection staff will answer questions about common consumer complaints such as telemarketing, landlord/tenant issues and identity theft. Consumers will be able to take home information to protect themselves against common scams.
