Expanding Wisconsin Agriculture in Thailand

From March 10 to 12, 2025, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade & Consumer Protection (DATCP) led a trade mission to Thailand, strengthening connections between Wisconsin's agricultural industry and Southeast Asia. The delegation was led by DATCP Secretary Randy Romanski and included Wisconsin dairy and agricultural leaders. The group participated in key industry briefings, visited Thailand's agribusinesses, engaged with USDA's Foreign Agricultural Service and the Royal Dairy Project, and took part in VIV Asia 2025, which is one of the region's largest agribusiness trade shows (and is reported on in a seperate trade mission recap).

A highlight of the trip was the Special Wisconsin Dinner in Bangkok, where Thailand's Iron Chef Pongtawat “Ian" Chalermkittichai crafted an unforgettable menu featuring Wisconsin's world-class cheese, cranberries, ginseng, and specialty sausages, beautifully paired with Thai flavors. This unique event, attended by U.S. Ambassador Robert Godec, brought together industry leaders for an evening of networking, cultural connections, and incredible food.

A big thank you to USDA FAS Thailand, Dairy Farmers of Wisconsin, the University of Wisconsin's Thai Alumni Association, and our dedicated Wisconsin agribusiness participants for making this trade mission a great success! We look forward to expanding opportunities for our farmers, producers, and agribusinesses in this dynamic market.
