From February 24 to 28, DATCP staff joined the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) on a trade Mission to Guadalajara and Mexico City, Mexico. This mission was led by Sam Rikkers, Chief Operating Officer of WEDC, and included seven Wisconsin businesses. Our state has had a very strong trade relationship with Mexico, exporting $460 million in agricultural products and $4.3 billion in total products in 2024.
On this trip, the delegation met with staff from multiple state government agencies, chambers of commerce, and private industry, bearing the message that Wisconsin is open for business. Demand is high for U.S.-made goods in the consumer market in Mexico, and there are good opportunities for growth in Wisconsin products such as cheese, sausage and prepared meats, craft alcoholic beverages, and baking products, among others.

DATCP looks forward to a continued partnership with Mexico, its states, and its people!
