The School District of Mauston expanded farm to school efforts across five schools, reaching over 1,400 students through garden education, local food procurement, and culinary activities. Grant funds supported grow towers, greenhouse supplies, and the installation of a student-led orchard. A high school junior was employed as a student gardener, and local foods were integrated into culinary classes, school lunch tastings, and a student-run coffee shop. Partnerships with at least four local farms helped supply meats, fruits, and cheeses, strengthening community connections. Despite staffing challenges, the project fostered collaboration across grade levels and laid the groundwork for continued garden use and student-led food production.
