Assuring the Strength of the Bridge: Confidentiality & Neutrality
The concept of neutrality is central to the mediation process. Mediation is a process where parties, assisted by a neutral mediator, are provided with the opportunity to sit down with one another and work together to reach a mutually agreeable resolution for their dispute. A mediator has no authority to impose a decision or solution on the parties. The role of the mediator is to "guide" the communication process so that parties are given a "fair chance" to participate in the decision making process.
