Grazing Grants for Education
The 2012 Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative Grant program invites proposals for education and on-farm demonstration. Final funding levels are not yet known but are expected to be similar to prior years. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis. Applications must be postmarked by April 23, 2012.

Education and On-Farm Demonstration projects can include workshops, conferences, on-farm field days and pasture walks, support for grazing networks and grazing schools, among other projects. The Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative is a national effort begun in 1991 to help landowners improve the ecological and productive condition of the nation's private grazing lands, the economic condition of farmers and ranchers, and the social well being of rural communities.
Who may apply?
Applicants may include, but are not limited to: county, state, and federal agriculture and natural resource agencies, colleges and universities, nonprofit organizations, and grazing networks.

2012 Grant Applications for Education Project Funds Available
Applicants may request a maximum award of $30,000 per year with a limit of $60,000 over two years.
The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection is coordinating these grant applications. Funding for these grants comes from federal and state of Wisconsin sources. Projects may be supported by the Wisconsin Legislature or by funding from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Natural Resources Conservation Service as part of the federal Grazing Lands Conservation Initiative begun in 1991. Both Federal and State funds are contingent on a final budget allocations for 2012.
