Conservation Engineering

The engineers and engineering specialists of the Conservation Engineering Unit provide technical support to county land conservation departments (LCDs) and other conservation groups to design and install best management practices in Wisconsin. Additionally, the Unit provides technical support for the livestock siting rules and the agricultural drainage districts. The county LCD staff technicians are the primary providers of planning, design, and construction oversight for state and local conservation efforts. To support this work, LCDs need timely engineering assistance in the form of training, plan review, development and maintenance of best management practice standards, development of computer design aids and standard designs, and certification accreditation.

The Conservation Engineering Unit consists of eight engineers and engineering specialists located in five area offices around the state.
