Buildings and Land
- Architects. Architects are regulated by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 443 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters AE 1-3 and 8.
- Asbestos Workers. Asbestos workers must meet qualifications established by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 254 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter HFS 159. Regulations also apply to other persons involved in asbestos projects, including inspectors, supervisors, management planners, project designers, roofing supervisors and roofing workers.
- Dwelling Contractors. Construction contractors who work on one-family or 2- family dwellings must meet financial responsibility requirements established by DSPS. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 101 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter Comm 5.
- Electrical Contractors and Electricians. Electrical contractors and electricians must meet qualifications established by DSPS. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 101 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter Comm 5.
- Engineers. Professional engineers are regulated by DSPS and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 443 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters AE 1,2,4 and 8.
- Engineering System Designers. Engineering system designers include designers of heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; plumbing systems; private sewage systems; electrical systems; and fire protection systems. Engineering system designers are regulated DSPS and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. - Geologists. Geologists are regulated by the DSPS, and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Professional Geologists, Hydrologists and Soil Scientists. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 470 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters GHSS 1, 2 and 5.
- Heating and Air Conditioning Contractors. Heating, ventilation and air conditioning contractors must meet qualifications established by DSPS. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 101 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter Comm 5.
- Home Inspectors. Home inspectors are regulated by DSPS. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 440 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters RL 131 to 135.
- Hydrologists. Hydrologists are regulated by DSPS, and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Professional Geologists, Hydrologists and Soil Scientists. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 470 and Wisconsin Administrative Code Chapters 1, 3 and 5.
- Interior Designers. Interior designers may register with the DSPS as “Wisconsin registered interior designers.” Registration is not required, but only registrants may use the title “Wisconsin registered interior designer.” Registered interior designers must pass an examination and meet continuing legal education requirements. See Wisconsin Statutes section 440, subchapter IX, and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter RL 130.
- Land Surveyors. Land surveyors are regulated by DSPS and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 443 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters A-E 1, 2, 6 and 8.
- Landscape Architects. Landscape architects are regulated by DSPS and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Architects, Landscape Architects, Professional Engineers, Designers and Land Surveyors. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 443 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapters A-E 1, 2, 8 and 9.
- Lead Abatement Workers. Lead abatement workers must meet qualifications established by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 254 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter HFS 163. Regulations apply to lead abatement inspectors, supervisors, companies, hazard investigators, project designers, risk assessors, sampling technicians and workers involved in lead abatement.
- Plumbers. Plumbers must meet qualifications established by DSPS. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 145 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter Comm 5.
- Soil Scientists. Soil scientists are regulated by DSPS and by the Wisconsin Examining Board of Professional Geologists, Hydrologists and Soil Scientists. See Wisconsin Statutes chapter 470 and Wisconsin Administrative Code chs. 1, 4 and 5.
