Manufactured Home Contruction

The Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) establishes state construction standards for manufactured homes (see Wisconsin Statutes chapter 101, subchapter V). These standards are contained in Wisconsin Administrative Code chapter Comm 27.

  • The construction standards apply to homes manufactured, assembled, distributed, sold or offered for sale in this state. There is an exemption for homes manufactured before June 15, 1976.
  • State construction standards incorporate federal standards adopted by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
  • The DSPS licenses Wisconsin manufacturers, and inspects for compliance with construction standards.
