Zoos and Aquariums

Animals that are being sent to a Wisconsin zoo need:
- A current certificate of veterinary inspection (CVI)
- Import permit
- Official individual identification is required for livestock species (please see species pages for details)
- If the animals are traveling from one AZA-member facility to another, any required tests are waived
- If the animals are not traveling from one AZA-member facility to another, tests may be required based on species (follow the links below for the specific requirements)
Please note: The livestock premises code for the receiving facility in Wisconsin is not required unless the animals on the permit application are from a species classified as livestock. The livestock premises code can be obtained from the owner of the destination premises.
Fish that are being sent to a Wisconsin zoo or aquarium need:
