Humane Officer of the Year
Every day dedicated humane officers are called to respond to a variety of issues ranging from the mundane to the extreme. Yet often, their commitment and contributions go unnoticed by their counterparts and communities. These humane officers are deserving of public recognition, which has led to the establishment of the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s (DATCP) Humane Officer of the Year Award.
We are appealing to you to submit a nomination for your humane officer to give them an opportunity to be recognized for their commitment in the following four areas:
- excellence in a particular task or incident.
- acts demonstrating compassionate or humane care toward an animal or animals in need.
- absolute devotion to his or her role as a humane officer.
- efforts to raise the public's perception of, or confidence in, humane officers.
Nominations for the 2012 award are now closed.
