New! Guide to Claiming the Farmland Preservation Tax Credit 

The Wisconsin Working Lands Initiative provides participating landowners with an opportunity to claim farmland preservation tax credits. The tax credits are income tax credits that are applied against tax liability.

Tax credit amounts are:

Landowners must be residents of Wisconsin and must meet other eligibility criteria to claim the credit, including compliance with state soil and water conservation standards

Landowners can check if their farms are located in eligible zoning districts by checking this document, which lists all jurisdictions covered by a certified zoning ordinance for tax year 2015. Landowners should also check with their local authorities to verify that their land is in a farmland preservation zoning district. List of jurisdictions
